PC buyers with a preinstalled OEM license of Windows 7 Home Basic, Home Premium, Professional or Ultimate starting today, i.e. June 2, 2012 and will be valid for all purchases until January 31, 2013.

It can be installed on any compatible Windows PC when Windows 8 is made available to consumers.  The downloadable update comes with 90 days of support from Microsoft, and expires on February 2013.

Compared to the previous version, Windows 8 for x86/64 comes in only two editions: Windows 8 and Windows 8 Pro. Windows 8 RT will only be available pre-installed on ARM-based devices.
